BurnSite
Batter my heart, three-personed God, for you as yet but knock, breathe, shine, and seek to mend; that I may rise, and stand; overthrow me, bend your force to break, blow, burn, and make me new. --John Donne

moviemaker mel
I had a great weekend with Mel and the Cosbys (and little future Cosby, seen her in utero). A couple of times Mel used the camera. Once to take a picture of Nattie. Another to set the timer for this picture of the three (actually four) of us out on a walk.
But Mel doesn't seem to know how to take pictures. Only movies. So here's a film short. I call it 'Three Women and a Baby.'

havin' a little va-ca
As my daughter Sarie would day: "I'm having a little va-ca."
Headed up the hill to be with a friend and be still.
Because I haven't been (still, that is) for the last two weeks. I've been crossing one thing after another off the list: two exams (0ne was Math), a 20 page psych paper, hosting a family birthday dinner, a board meeting, a speaking engagement, homework, housework.... yeah. I'm tired.
But God loves me a lot. Cuz I get to go here.

1984. not the book. the life.
My daughter Aimee is a saver of things. Me too. All my kids are, actually. Sometimes my older children have been known to procure things (like pictures and home movies) from boxes in my basement. Mostly I don't like that, though I am powerless to stop it, especially since I usually don't even know it has happened.
This morning Emily came into my room as I was waking up. She wanted to show me something.
It was this old photo booth strip. Apparently at some point Aimee absconded with it. I have not seen it in years. She is using it for her MySpace picture.
So Em and I sat side by side with our morning coffee looking at my girls and me. In 1984.
Starting the day getting thrown into the past is a powerful thing.
I still haven't quite recovered.

God help us
Yesterday I rode my bike past a church that had this on the marquee:
Warning:
Exposure to the Son
prevents burning
I'm not kidding, either.
I believe I may have said a very bad word as I rode on.
